She began working for Zuora as the organization's first CIO in 2014 because she was moved by the company's founder and CEO Tien Tzuo's goal of "The World Subscribed" and was a supporter of the entrepreneurial ZEO culture Tien established. She started working with Dell as a software engineer because she was a fan of Michael Dell's philosophy and "build-to-order" business model. Companies led by visionary founders have a unique quality. Little did she know that throughout her lengthy stint at Dell as a Zuora customer as the firm changed from a hardware company to a software solutions company, she would see Tien's vision of "The World Subscribed" firsthand.
Alvina Antar is an amazing leader who instills meaning, establishes an unrivaled bar of quality, and has a laser-like focus on the customer experience. This is her success story.
What Set Her on a Successful Course
Alvina worked with Dell for 17 years prior to joining Zuora, managing M&A for the last few of those years. In order to enable Dell's on Demand platform for both organic and inorganic product releases, she deployed Zuora as a customer. Zuora turned out to be a game-changer for Dell's evolution, enabling the pairing of hardware with profit-rich services and fostering even greater client devotion. She left Dell and joined Zuora as the company's first CIO after realizing what an outstanding impact Zuora had on such a huge organization. Over the course of the last five years, she has led growth, operational maturity, and a successful IPO for a flourishing subscription business.
“Alvina has made great progress. She remains motivated and focused to keep attaining her goals because of her passion, dedication, and visionary viewpoint. Some advice from the boss herself to the budding businesswomen: "My father inspired me to be enthusiastic and courageous like a "800-pound gorilla," capable of achieving everything I set my mind to. For the rest of my life, I shall be motivated by these words. Follow your passion, be persistent, and miraculous things will occur.”
Her thought leadership as the customer's voice from Dell to Dell and now Zuora to Zuora has solidified her as a subject matter expert and emphasized the value of openness. Because of her background leading order to cash transformation at Dell and billing and revenue automation at Zuora, Alvina enjoys developing deep connections with CIOs of the subscription economy who are transforming subscription business models all around the world.
The Zuora Services
Establishing lasting relationships with clients by offering ongoing value in the form of subscriptions is the new necessity for businesses operating in the subscription economy. However, when businesses turn their attention from one-off purchases and items to continuous, valuable services, many are confronted by the difficulties of running and growing a subscription business.
Legacy order-to-revenue solutions or in-house billing solutions designed from the ground up may be present in traditionally product-focused firms. Both are rife with inefficiencies and need a lot of time, effort, and money to maintain. More importantly, these methods limit the overall expansion of a subscription business and have a detrimental influence on the entire client experience.
